Mission
The mission of Lazarus at the Gate is to promote simplicity for the sake of generosity. We hope to combine a vibrant relationship with Jesus with a vibrant commitment to the world's poor. In particular, we seek to help people simplify their lives and mobilize money to the global poor. We are interdenominational and also eager to dialogue with those who do not profess Christian faith.
Lazarus at the Gate takes its name from a story told by Jesus in Luke 16:19 - 31 involving God judging a rich man for not helping a poor man named Lazarus who lived at his gate. The Lazarus experience is a 12 week small group intended to encourage all Christians - but especially the “rich” - to seek justice in our relationship with those who are poor, starting with our own lifestyles, through a healthy community process.
